We are a Pre-School for 2 - 4 year old children which is closely associated with Whissendine C of E Primary School. We have been running now for 25 years from the Village Hall on Main Street in Whissendine.
We have 5 members of staff, 4 of whom are all qualified to a high level. The Pre-School is run by Liz Milnes and Denise Chipman.
The Pre-School opening times are currently as follows:-
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - 9.15am until 12.15pm with a 1 hour lunch club available until 1.15pm
Wednesday - 9.15am until 12.15pm only
We are a friendly and caring Pre-School which offers a balanced and stimulating curriculum with lots of opportunity for your child/children to explore, create and enjoy their surroundings. We pride ourselves on building strong relationships between the staff, children and parents so that the child feels happy and settled. Also, by working closely with the parents we can ensure that the child's individual needs are met, thereby encouraging the child to achieve their full potential.
We provide a curriculum as guided by the Department for Education and Skills (DFES) working towards the Early Years Foundation stage of development. We are OFSTED approved and able to accept children under the terms of the Government Nursery Education Scheme. We have just been OFSTED inspected under our new management structure. This report will be available from the OFSTED website in a couple of weeks.
At Whissendine Pre-School the guiding principles that underline our practice is that we aim to offer a quality experience for the children in our care. To do this we work alongside the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage as follows:-
· A Unique Child – Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
· Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents/carers and / or a key person .
· Enabling Environments – The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
· Learning and Development – Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. All areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
