A great morning at Brooksby Melton. We looked for badgers down HUGE holes, found mole hills, sat on James the Giants bench and ran up the biggest hill! In the farm we saw two sows and their piglets, many cows, calves and ewes with their lambs. We learnt so much! Farmer Rose and Farmer Carol told us how the lambs identify their mothers, how farmers identify the sheep and why lambs need shorter tails. Why piglets keep warm by the heat of a lamp and not their mothers, how feed is produced for the calves and the meat produced from each type of animal and lots more! We also got to stroke a new born lamb and he was very lovely.........
