We are going to take part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch on Monday - we have to count all the birds that arrive in our outdoor area within the period of an hour. To entice the birds we have made pine cone bird feeders. We squashed rice, bread, cake and dried fruit into the gaps on the cone then smoothed lard over it and rolled it in bird seed. We have hung them on the tree branches ! Watch this space!
Part 1 - making pine cone bird feeders
The day arrived to count the birds. We had one hour and had to do it in teams. The binoculars were definately a bonus to help see in the trees and we were good at identification! Each team transferred their data so that we could have a whole class result. Brilliant!
