Welcome to

Whissendine CE Primary School

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6's Class Page!

Welcome to our Team 6 page! For the children's final year at Whissendine, we hope to give them a fantastic, enriching year filled with a wide range of experiences and many great memories too.

On this page, you can find information about what we are learning in each term, copies of current homeworks and plenty of photos and videos of our experiences. Scroll down for more information.

Homework (*Edited as of Term 3)

Please find below a typical timetable for homework however, sometimes this may change due to specific tasks.

Topic Homework- Set at the beginning of term and due in for the final week - usually the final Friday.

Maths/Grammar Homework - Two separate homework, both given to the children on a Tuesday and expected for the following Monday. This gives children the maximum amount of time to seek support if they should need it. I remind the children that I am willing to sit down any lunch time and look through their homework with them.

Minute Test Homework - The Year 6s will have their mathematical fluency and times tables tested on the Friday of each week. They will be given a sheet of between 15 and 25 questions to practice and revise for the following Friday. To further support their development, they will have access to the program Times Tables Rockstars through their own individual login, kept written in their Numeracy Homework book. Please see below for additional copies of the Minute sheets.

Spellings Homework- Two week programme:

Week 1: On Monday, the new spelling rule will be taught and given to the children to practice; they will be tested on Friday with 10 spellings following that rule, some of which they will have been given, some they will not have seen.

Week 2: On Monday, the same spelling rule will be taught again and tested out of 15 spellings that Friday; the majority of the words may be not ones the children have seen.

As always, if you have any questions then please either message me via Class Dojo, or pop in to see me at the end of the school day.

Yours sincerely

Mr Gaunt
