African drumming

Today we took part in an African drumming workshop.  We played djembe drums.  The drums are made in Africa and have a goat skin covering.  We found out that they made different sounds depending on where you hit the drum (at the side or in the middle) or which part of your hand you hit it with (fingers or palm). We soon realised that you could make the sound louder or softer too!  We had to follow sequences of instructions to play the drums as a group and soon became rather good!  Check out the video of us playing to the whole school in Gold Book assembly below!
