Baptism Experience

Today we walked to St Andrews church to take part in a Baptism Experience.  Reverend Deborah welcomed us and we all had parts to play.  There were six 'families' consisting of mum and dad and Godparents.  The babies baptised today were Esme Olivia, Flower, Lily, Amaya, Lola and Emily (names chosen by the families).

We talked about why some people are baptised and Reverend Deborah explained the ceremony to us.  We then stood, each family group, with our baby who was anointed with oil.  We then gathered around the font and Reverend Deborah poured holy water over the head of our baby three times, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Each child was then able to take some water from the font and place it on the baby's head too.  Following that we gathered on the carpet and were each given a candle that was lit from the special candle in the church, to show that the babies had been welcomed into God's family.

Our ceremony was finished with refreshments, a delicious christening cake made by the children and drinks.

We loved singing 'Sing Hosanna' as we left the church.
