Term 2 Info
The Great War
What an exciting term we have ahead of us…
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the day Great Britain entered the First World War. To mark this Centenary, and to help us to remember, Team 6 are going to be learning all about WW1. This learning will include writing war poems, designing and making war memorials with our own 21st Century responses to war, drawing and painting silhouettes of war and there will be a major memorial issue to debate in Croxby (our village) where our finest persuasion techniques will really be put to the test.
In Science, we will be learning about light and how we see whilst in Maths, we will be refining our knowledge, skills and understanding of previously learnt concepts as well as adding to our Mathematical skills with new ones. P.E. will consist of Basketball and Dance so please ensure that your child has an indoor and an outdoor kit in school with him/her each week.
…ssh! Did someone mention Christmas? How could I forget? No, I didn’t so Team 6 will be getting creative in preparation for the Big Day!
Weekly homework will continue to be handed out on Mondays (spelling patterns) and Fridays (1 minute challenge and Maths). Reading comprehension continues to be a key aspect of your child’s learning so when you are sharing a book with your child, can you ask him/her a few questions about what he/she has read to check his/her understanding.
Thank you for your support.
Mrs Schofield and Mrs Fry.
