Term 3 - Robots

Happy New Year Everyone!

So 2017 begins and I'm sure it will be fabulous!

We are already off to a flying start with our topic on Robots. We will be learning all about materials and their properties, what materials would be good to build with and which materials go back to their original shapes when they have been bent. Lots of investigations to come. In computing we will be programming the beebots, designing courses for them and learning to write the instructions for the programmes. We will be designing clever robots in technology and using junk model to build fantastic robots.

In maths this term we are learning all about multiplication and division. We will be learning what a times table is and how to calculate them and learn them. Our focus initially will be on 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We will be using arrays and numberlines to calculate our work.

Our literacy this term will cover adventure stories for the first 3 weeks and explanation texts for the second three weeks. We will be writing exciting adventure stories set in a fantasy land with robots as characters. When we move on to explanation texts we will be writing a fact sheet to accompany our ideal robot design.

A busy term ahead and this is just a flavour. Homework remains on a Monday and PE will be on Fridays when we have gymnastics and games!
