How does your garden grow?
This term Year 1 will be finding out if they have green fingers! We will be planting beans, cress and nasturtiums and watching carefully to see what happens. We will be trying to learn the names of as many plants as possible, both around the school grounds and on our visit to Forest school later this term.
We will be setting up our own garden centre in the classroom, making seed packets and plants and flowers to sell to practice our skills with money.
There will also be lots of measuring this term. How tall will the beans grow? Can we make a daisy chain that is 1 metre long? What different sizes and shapes of leaf can we find?
Finally we will head to Rutland Water to practice our plant detective skills and have a go at pond dipping and bug hunting!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
