Term 5 Information

Term 5

A very short term but lots to look forward to!  We are entrepreneurs – selling the eggs we collect from our chickens to buy ourselves something wonderful from the proceeds (we have yet to decide what, but I feel a ‘sweet treat’ coming on) lots of mathematical opportunities there!  We have set up the incubator with (hopefully) fertilised Legbar chicken eggs that we are optimistic will hatch in 21 days! Caterpillars are feeding, so we will observe their metamorphosis into a butterfly.  We have planted potatoes, herbs and carrots to harvest before the end of the year.  We will also be monitoring our newly hatched tadpoles (there are so many!!) and, of course, Maya and 33!

If we are very lucky the weather may warm up, so if the temperatures start to rise, please make sure children have sunhats and sun cream (the type you only apply once is handy!) applied in the morning before school.

Extra drinks bottles can be left in the snack basket to be available at any time.

PE will be outside this term so can children please have well-fitting plimsolls or cheap trainers at all times in their lockers – thank you! Our main session with Mr Eshelby is on Thursday morning, first thing, so please come through and start changing straight away.

We will be providing a multitude of purposeful opportunities inside and out to allow the children to practise their targets (discussed at our Parents Consultation meetings) and show us their progress towards/into the Early Learning Goals.  We will put a ‘Learning Characteristics’ sheet in your Learning Log this term, so please contribute any home observations of your child, if you would like to, which will feed into our assessments – thank you!

PC Laurie Appleton will pop in to discuss ‘Stranger Danger’ in an age appropriate way and on Monday afternoons, for Term 5, we shall take part in Yoga Sessions with Mrs Evans.  Namaste.

Keep up the good work with the reading and sounds practice – we can really see a difference in school!

Finally, did you see the Gingerbread man?  He has been seen in lots of places, in the village and beyond …………
