Term 6 - Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...

Welcome back to our final term of this year. It’s the summer already!

I cannot believe how quick time flies.

This term we are extremely busy in class 2. Our topic is ‘Oh I do like to be beside the Seaside’. We will be focusing on looking at different places around the world for example a Caribbean Island, and comparing them to places in Great Britain. We will be looking at the differences in weather, fashion, food, animals, music and of course their beach’s.

Our maths this term is starting off looking at measurement. In this unit we will be looking at mass, capacity and temperature. We will learn how we measure each of these and we will be using our measuring skills to measure out our ingredients for a Caribbean fruit punch. In maths we will also be revising our place value, multiplication, division, shape, position and direction knowledge.

In Literacy we will be looking at the stories all about the Lighthouse Keeper, Mr Grinling and his adventures. We will become storytellers, actors and role play different characters. We will also be writing our own diary entries. The Lighthouse keeper stories are some of my favourite so I am looking forward to sharing the stories with you all.

In Literacy, we will also be writing our own riddles.

On top of all of that we have our sports day the morning of Tuesday 13th June where KS1 and EYFS will be taking part in lots of fun and exciting, sporting activities. This term it is also our turn to visit Forest School on the 29th June. We will be looking forward to that!

PE will still be on Mondays and Fridays and we shall be doing team games and athletics. Please make sure PE kit is in school ready. Homework is still due every Monday but spellings come in every Friday.
