Year 4/5
Welcome to Year 4/5
We have an exciting year planned for the team this year - I hope the team are ready for all of their new learning!
This page will contain the yearly plan, termly plans and any homework for your reference.
Homework
Maths Homework - This is set on a Tuesday and is due in the following Monday. It will relate to our learning in class and is designed to give children an extra chance to practise, with the aim that it helps them to remember!
Spellings Homework- Two-week programme:
Week 1: On Monday, the new spelling rule will be taught and given to the children to practice; they will be tested on Friday with 10 spellings following that rule, some of which they will have been given, some they will not have seen.
Week 2: On Monday, the same spelling rule will be taught again and tested out of 15 spellings that Friday; the majority of the words may be not ones the children have seen.
There are also 'High Frequency words' on the bottom of the sheet. These are words that do not follow one of our rules but are useful for the children in their written work.
PE
Year 4/5 PE days -Monday & Thursday
Independence
In Years 5 and 6, the children are dismissed at the end of the day from their classrooms in The Stig building. Please reinforce the message that I will be giving them - they do not leave the school premises unless they are with the adult who is collecting them, if that adult does not arrive, they are to return to the classroom/playground where they will find me and we will sort it out together. Children in Year 4 will continue to be supervised during the end of the day and will be dismissed on the playground by myself.
Children in Year 5 sometimes walk home on their own. This is only in agreement with parents. If you are happy for your child to leave the school grounds and walk home alone, we ask that you inform the office of this arrangement.
Please feel free to message me on Dojo if you have any questions or concerns.
Many thanks,
Mrs Burgess
