What a brilliant day we had at Lincoln Castle! We had so many different activities to try and were so impressed with the children's enthusiasm and knowledge. We were split into three groups with Class 2 and had lots of experts from their education team leading our sessions.
The children loved the opportunity to go up on the battlements, despite the rain! We were able to get a sense of how the castle walls protected all the people and buildings inside and learn about the different parts of the castle.
During knight training we learned about how to dress a knight and looked at the different weapons and armour. We had a go at being archers and tried on the helmet and gauntlet.
Up in the education centre we were able to use a great selection of resources to create our own shields, after looking at different shields and coats of arms. Then there was a banquet! We had a top table and got to dress up, dance and play instruments.
The children were brilliant ambassadors for Whissendine and all the staff commented on their fantastic behaviour. Even though it took us far longer than expected to get home, the children remained positive and cheerful. Thanks very much to our brilliant parent helpers for their help.
