Maths Minute Challenges
Now that we have learnt our first sets of times tables and have spent time learning addition and subtraction facts the children need to build their rapid fluency skills. We shall be doing a 1 minute (strictly timed) challenge on a Tuesday which the children will be able to bring home and it will be repeated on a Friday. The children will have the same calculations but in a different order and the idea is to beat their own score from the Tuesday. It is a vital part of mathematics that children can rapidly calculate numbers. We shall be focusing initially on adding and subtracting 0, 1 and 2. Then we shall progress to some multiplication and division tables and continue on from there. This will continue right through until the summer holidays.
I shall upload the Tuesday minute challenges here in case the children lose their sheets.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
