term 6 - minibeasts
Minibeasts
Minibeasts, bugs, insects, creepy crawlies…..there are so many different words and we will be finding out what they all mean! We are beginning our topic by heading out on a hunt around Whissendine, exploring different habitats and seeing what we can find. We will be recording and describing the little creatures we find and coming up with questions of our own.
Very excitingly we will be looking after some tiny caterpillars in the classroom and seeing if we can watch them become butterflies….we will let you know, look out for updates on Twitter! We are also going to learn the songs from the mini musical Caterpillar Boogie, all about the life cycle of the butterfly.
We will be trying to learn the names of as many different types of minibeast as we can and having a go at sketching, painting, printing and collage.
We will be outside as much as possible this term, not only searching for tiny creatures and making the most of our super outdoor area but also getting ready for sports day. Please make sure PE kit is in school, including trainers and sun hats. Many thanks from the Class 1 team.
