Traditional Tales - Term 3
This term we will be transported into the magical world of traditional tales. The children will explore a range of traditional tales, including stories from other cultures, to find out what makes a story become a traditional tale. We will be looking at the composition of stories, including how a writer develops the beginning, middle and end of a story, while developing our storytelling skills through role play. The children will also begin to develop their understanding of a character in a story and how their feelings change throughout the story. In mathematics, we will learn that all numbers can be made up of smaller numbers as we explore the composition of the numbers four and five. We will also be investigating the measurement of mass by estimating the weight of objects and learning how to use a balance scale.
The key books we will be reading this term are:
Jack and the Beanstalk
The Three Little Pigs
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
The Princess and the Pea
The Gingerbread Man
The Magic Paintbrush
