Tesco - Farm to Fork

We met Terri and Rachel at Tesco.  Once we had put on our special tabards and hats, they gave us a tour of the branch and showed us where different food is stored.  We even went into the freezer that had a temperature of -22 degrees!  We talked to people on different counters about their produce.  We had to find a 'rainbow' of fruit and vegetables in teams of colours - check the photos to see the range we selected - and talked about the different countries they came from.  We were able to sniff, touch and taste lots of samples of cheese and fruit (some of which we had never heard of before).  Well done team for being so resilient and trying something new!  The fish was slimy and smooth when we held it with special gloves and it smelt funny too!  Finally at the bakery we saw trays of delicious things waiting to go into the huge oven and were each given a roll individually packed to take home.  Thanks Tesco - we had a very enjoyable morning and learnt lots about where our food comes from.

What was your best bit?
Going in the freezer – it was sooo cold!’
‘Tasting a pomegranate – I’ve never had one before’
‘Finding orange fruit and vegetables with my team’
‘Seeing the bakery – there were lots of rolls!’
‘Holding the fish – it was very slimy and slippy’
